Ex Kogi Commissioner Eyes Reps Seat
In Kogi State, former Works Commissioner Mohammed Yusuf has declared his bid for the Adavi/Okehi seat in the House of Representatives ahead of 2027.
He made the announcement on Saturday during a public event where he unveiled his plans. The declaration marks his entry into the growing contest for the constituency. Supporters and party members attended the gathering.
Yusuf said his aim is to improve representation and bring development closer to the people.
Speaking to members of the All Progressives Congress, he promised to work with stakeholders to deliver projects.
He added that his move would build on the efforts of Ahmed Usman Ododo. His message focused on stronger community engagement.
The aspirant outlined key priorities including road infrastructure, youth empowerment, and education. He also promised to create economic opportunities and support small businesses.
Plans for vocational training, ICT skills, and startup support formed part of his agenda. He said young people and women would be central to his programmes.
Yusuf also pledged transparent leadership and regular engagement with constituents. He highlighted access to clean water, including plans around the Osara Dam, as a key focus.
Having resigned from his cabinet role earlier this year, he said he is ready for national service. Local stakeholders have already signalled support for his ambition.
