FG Proposes Adire For NYSC Uniform Change
The Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, has confirmed that adire fabric is being considered to replace the traditional khaki uniform worn by members of the National Youth Service Corps.
According to the minister, the proposed change is part of efforts to promote Nigerian culture and locally made products through the national service scheme. He said the plan would also support local textile production.
If approved, the new design would mark one of the biggest changes to the NYSC uniform since the scheme was created. The government has yet to announce when the replacement would take effect.
The proposal is expected to generate discussions among corps members and other stakeholders as the government continues consultations on the planned change.
