Fuel Marketers Push FG For Import Return
The Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria has called on the Federal Government of Nigeria to reopen petrol imports as concerns grow over rising fuel costs.
The group said the move would help create competition and improve supply across the country.
The association made the appeal amid ongoing challenges in the downstream sector, where pricing and availability remain unstable.
It argued that limiting imports has reduced options for marketers and affected market balance.
According to the group, allowing more players into the import space would encourage fair pricing and reduce pressure on consumers.
It added that competition is key to preventing monopolies and ensuring efficiency in distribution.
The call comes as Nigerians continue to face high fuel prices, with industry players urging authorities to adopt policies that can bring relief and stabilise the market.
