Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State, came alive as members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) formally welcomed Governor Senator Douye Diri and his supporters into the party.

Thousands of APC and Diri supporters, clad in white t-shirts and colourful attire representing all eight local government areas, began streaming into the city as early as 8 a.m., undeterred by early morning rain. Many were seen singing and drumming along major streets, adding to the festive atmosphere.

By 10 a.m., the 5,000-capacity Samson Siasia Stadium was already full, with crowds still pouring in. Security operatives were forced to restrict further entry to prevent a possible stampede.

Governor Diri, who resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over two weeks ago, formally ended speculation by joining the ruling APC.

The event attracted a host of high-profile political figures, including Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, former Delta Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State, former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole, and Minister of Regional Development, Engineering Abubakar Momoh.
