Hayatu Deen Rejects Court Battle Over ADC Primary
Former African Democratic Congress presidential aspirant, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, has ruled out taking legal action over the outcome of the party’s presidential primary.
He said preserving unity within the party is more important than prolonging disputes ahead of the 2027 elections.
Hayatu-Deen had earlier questioned the credibility of the exercise and stayed away from the announcement of the results.
The primary produced former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar as the winner, while Rotimi Amaechi came second and Hayatu-Deen finished third.
Despite maintaining that there were shortcomings in the process, the former banker said he had decided against a court challenge after consulting supporters and stakeholders.
He added that his concerns had already been communicated privately to the party leadership for review.
He urged his supporters to remain hopeful and committed to the ideals of good governance and accountability.
According to him, the end of his presidential bid does not end the broader struggle for a stronger, fairer and more prosperous Nigeria.
