JAMB Gives Update On UTME Exams
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board says the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination has recorded smooth operations across most centres in Nigeria.
Ishaq Oloyede made this known during a monitoring visit in Ibadan at the University of Ibadan CBT centre on Saturday.
He said only a small number of centres faced issues, mainly linked to power supply and minor technical faults.
According to him, out of about 980 CBT centres nationwide, problems were recorded in around 16 locations. He added that more than 1.7 million candidates have already taken the exam within three days.
Oloyede described the conduct of the examination as smooth overall, crediting the cooperation of academic staff and supervisors across centres.
He also urged the public to avoid linking insecurity reports directly to the examination without proper evidence, noting that such claims often create confusion.
He further explained that candidates are required to arrive early for accreditation and not because exams start that early.
The registrar warned against fraud linked to score manipulation and said several suspects are already being prosecuted. He reaffirmed that JAMB will continue to protect the credibility of the admission process.
