Osun Group Protests INEC Transfers
In Osun State, a civil society group known as the Coalition of Concerned Nigeria Citizens staged a protest at the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Osogbo on Thursday.
The group demanded clarity over recent staff redeployments within the commission ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
The protesters expressed concern that the movement of electoral officers, including the transfer of the Resident Electoral Commissioner, appeared selective and could affect confidence in the process.
They said the timing of the changes, so close to the election, raised questions about fairness and neutrality.
The group submitted a petition asking INEC to explain the redeployments and review recent postings.
They also called for an independent check of voter-related processes in the state, warning that citizens would resist any attempt to influence the outcome of the poll.
After submitting the petition, members gathered outside the INEC office with placards demanding transparency and credible elections.
They urged the electoral body to reassure the public of its neutrality and ensure the governorship election is conducted in a free and fair
