Kaduna Peace Talk Fails As Bandits Abducts Villagers
Residents of Gidan Sarki in Tuge Ward, Musawa Local Government Area of Katsina State, were thrown into panic on Monday after terrorists attacked the community.
Several people were killed during the invasion, while more than 20 others were taken away, raising fresh worries about safety in the area
The violence came despite claims of an existing ‘peace deal’ between local leaders and the armed groups operating in the area.
Those who survived described a sudden assault that left families with no time to react. Women, children and elderly residents fled into nearby bushes and open spaces, where many are now spending the nights in fear of another raid. With roads unsafe and access limited, the exact number of those killed remains unclear.
A security alert platform, Bakatsine, confirmed the incident on Tuesday and said the attack showed how fragile local peace arrangements have become.
According to the report, communities that were assured of calm continue to face deadly raids, forcing many residents to abandon their homes.
The latest attack has deepened anger among locals, who question ongoing talks with armed groups while violence continues. As of the time of filing this report, there was no official response from the Katsina State government or the police on the killings or the fate of those abducted.
