NDC Fixes Primaries Date Despite Holiday Adjustments
The Nigeria Democratic Congress has confirmed that its nationwide primaries for presidential, National Assembly, governorship, and state assembly seats will still hold on May 29, 2026, despite changes linked to the Eid-el-Kabir holiday period.
The party says preparations are ongoing across all states. The exercise is expected to shape its candidates for the 2027 elections.
The party explained that earlier adjustments were made to accommodate the Eid celebrations, but its timetable for selecting candidates remains intact.
Party officials say logistics and coordination have been aligned to ensure smooth voting across constituencies. Members have been directed to stay prepared for the process.
According to the party, arrangements have been finalised for delegates and officials to participate in the primaries nationwide.
It added that internal committees are working with state structures to manage the exercise and avoid disruptions. Security and monitoring plans are also in place to support the process.
The NDC urged members to remain calm and follow party guidelines as the primaries approach. It reaffirmed that the exercise is key to strengthening its structure ahead of the general elections.
Party leaders say the focus remains on unity and orderly selection of candidates.
