The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has formally extended a membership invitation to the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade.
NSE President, Mrs. Margaret Oguntala, led a delegation to the monarch’s palace in Oyo on Wednesday, where she praised Oba Owoade as a seasoned mechanical engineer with global experience. She noted that his expertise would be invaluable to the engineering community and the country.
During the visit, the delegation also invited the traditional ruler to the society’s upcoming annual conference, scheduled for December in Ibadan.
Oba Owoade, while accepting the invitation, commended the NSE for its vital role in national development.
“Engineers’ problem-solving skills, creativity, and attention to detail enable them to develop practical solutions that address complex challenges. Our work has a significant impact on society, driving progress and improving lives,” he said.
The monarch assured the NSE of his continued support for its activities both in Oyo State and nationwide.
Oba Owoade ascended the throne in April 2025, succeeding the late Alaafin, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, who passed away in April 2022. He holds a National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from The Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, and a Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from The Polytechnic, Ibadan.
