The Secretary General of the Forum for South-East Academic Doctors, Dr Uzo Ngoladi, has criticised the judgment convicting pro-Biafra leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
Speaking on Sunday during an interview on Arise Television, Ngoladi said the life sentence handed to the IPOB leader was met with shock, disbelief and deep disappointment.
He noted that many people had expected a favourable outcome that would lead to Kanu’s release, but the opposite occurred.
He said, “The sentiment in the Southeast regarding the Federal High Court’s judgement on Nnamdi Kanu is one of disappointment and disillusionment.
“Many in the Igbo community do not view Kanu as a terrorist, but rather as an agitator and a catalyst for change in response to the marginalisation of Igbos in Nigeria.
“We continue to hope that this issue will be resolved through political means rather than through punitive measures or selective justice.”
Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday sentenced Nnamdi Kanu to life imprisonment after finding him guilty on all seven counts of terrorism brought against him.
