Obi Not Doing NDC Any Favour; I’m More Qualified – Dickson
National leader of the NDC, Seriake Dickson, has rejected claims that the party owes its relevance to Peter Obi ahead of the 2027 election.
Speaking during a television interview, the former Bayelsa governor said the party was providing a platform for politicians rather than receiving favours from any individual.
Dickson criticised some members of the Obidient Movement for allegedly attacking the party and its leadership while backing Obi.
He argued that such actions could weaken the political platform carrying their preferred candidate and create unnecessary divisions within the opposition camp.
The senator also pointed to the party’s decision to adopt Obi as its presidential candidate without internal conflict.
He said the process was completed smoothly and maintained that neither Obi nor other beneficiaries of the party’s ticket paid for the opportunity.
Dickson further stated that he possesses the experience and qualifications needed to seek Nigeria’s presidency if he chooses to do so.
He added that the NDC had already built a national structure before the arrival of Obi and other prominent politicians, insisting that the party’s future is not tied to any single figure.
