Edo Senators Praises Okpebholo’s School Closure Move
The senator representing Edo Central, Joseph Ikpea, has praised Governor Monday Okpebholo for shutting down three secondary schools in Akoko Edo following intelligence reports of a planned attack on students.
The move came after security agencies raised concerns over a possible kidnapping threat in the area.
The affected schools were temporarily closed to protect students and staff from potential danger.
Ikpea said the governor acted responsibly by responding quickly to the warning instead of waiting for criminals to carry out an attack.
While acknowledging that the closure could affect students writing important examinations, the senator maintained that protecting lives must come first.
He described the decision as a necessary step in the face of growing security challenges across the country.
Ikpea also urged residents of Edo State to remain alert and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
He commended security operatives for their cooperation with the state government and pledged support for efforts aimed at keeping communities safe from criminal elements.
