Former First Lady Dame Patience Jonathan has dismissed speculation about returning to Aso Rock, stating she has no plans to re-enter the presidential villa and will instead support President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
Speaking after receiving the Women Icon Leader of the Year award, she said, “I’m not going back to the Villa. If you call me, I will not go. There is only one president at a time. This is turn-by-turn — today is my turn, I will go; tomorrow, it will be another person’s turn.”
She also pledged to campaign alongside First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, whom she described as a longtime friend. “I stand by my friend. I told her I would campaign with her. I’m not running,” she added.
Her remarks come amid ongoing speculation about a potential political comeback for former President Goodluck Jonathan, a possibility her statement appears to firmly shut down.
