Ogun State Restricts School Graduations
The Ogun State Government has announced a new policy limiting graduation ceremonies to only terminal classes in both public and private schools across the state.
The decision affects all levels of basic and secondary education institutions operating within the state.
The policy was introduced to regulate what officials describe as the growing culture of frequent and unnecessary graduation events in schools.
Authorities said the move is aimed at restoring order and ensuring that academic milestones are properly observed without excess.
Under the new rule, only pupils in final classes such as Primary 6, JSS 3 and SS 3 will be allowed to hold graduation ceremonies.
Schools at lower levels are expected to comply fully with the directive as enforcement begins immediately.
Education authorities in the state said monitoring teams will be deployed to ensure compliance.
The government also warned that schools found violating the directive may face sanctions as part of efforts to standardise academic practices across Ogun State.
