Taraba Pays WAEC Fees For Students
Agbu Kefas has approved ₦1.3 billion to cover West African Examinations Council fees for 39,000 students in public secondary schools across Taraba State.
The move is aimed at easing the burden on families and supporting access to education.
The funding targets final-year students preparing for their WAEC exams. By taking over the cost, the state government hopes to remove financial barriers that often prevent students from sitting for the examination.
This decision follows growing concerns over rising education costs, which have affected many households. The initiative is expected to boost student participation and improve overall performance in the state.
Officials say the intervention reflects a wider plan to invest in education and give students a better chance at completing their secondary schooling without disruption.
