Tinubu Would Defeat Atiku If Election Is Won By Rigging – Lawal
Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, has claimed that President Bola Tinubu would be extremely difficult to defeat in the 2027 election if the contest is decided through electoral manipulation.
He made the remark during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today while discussing the country’s political landscape ahead of the next general election.
Lawal said Tinubu remains the strongest figure when it comes to what he described as election rigging, insisting that any opponent relying on similar tactics would struggle against the president.
He argued that no politician currently possesses the influence to outplay Tinubu in that area.
The former SGF also dismissed suggestions that he could support former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, saying he has studied Atiku’s political record and concluded that his leadership would not offer the kind of change Nigeria needs.
He further criticised Atiku’s response to growing security concerns across the country.
Lawal maintained that he is not backing any presidential aspirant at the moment and is still consulting on his political future.
His comments came shortly after he resigned from the African Democratic Congress, where he accused party leaders of manipulating the presidential primary in favour of Atiku, an allegation the party has denied.
