Troops Launch Offensive Against Terrorists Hideouts in Katsina
Military forces under Operation FANSAN YAMMA have begun a major offensive in Katsina State targeting terrorists and armed bandits.
The operation, named CLEAN SWEEP III, is focused on Matazu Local Government Area and nearby communities where criminal groups are active. It began on Saturday, 14 June 2026.
The operation followed the abduction and death of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, who was taken alongside his wife by suspected terrorists in the area.
Security forces said the mission is aimed at tracking down those responsible and dismantling their networks.
Troops have carried out patrols, raids, and search operations across identified hideouts in several communities including Adua, Nasarawa and Karaduwa.
Military sources confirmed that structures used by the criminals for shelter and logistics have been destroyed during the clearance exercise.
Authorities said the offensive is being carried out with support from other security agencies and local informants.
Residents were urged to provide useful information to help ongoing operations, while troops continue efforts to restore safety and restrict the movement of armed groups in the region.
