Four people have died and seven others were injured in a truck accident in Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area, Nasarawa State.
The crash, involving three trucks, occurred during a procession at the annual Eggon Festival and Carnival at Eggon Community Secondary School, casting a shadow over the normally festive event.
Yahaya Sabo, Corps Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), told Radio Nigeria Precious FM that reckless driving was responsible for the accident and confirmed that investigations are ongoing.
Eyewitnesses described the incident as both tragic and preventable, blaming the truck drivers for failing to take proper precautions in the crowded festival setting.
The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Federal University of Lafia Teaching Hospital, while the injured are being treated at the General Hospital in Nasarawa Eggon.
