US Immigration authorities are set to deport Nigerian national Ibrahim Tunde Ijaoba following his convictions for multiple serious crimes, including armed robbery, drug trafficking, and aggravated assault.

ICE described Ijaoba as an undocumented immigrant who later became involved in organised criminal activity. He is a former member of the Bloods, a violent street gang recognised by US law enforcement as a major criminal organisation.

“Ibrahim Tunde Ijaoba is a criminal illegal alien from Nigeria and former member of the Bloods — a notoriously violent street gang. He entered illegally and then racked up an extensive rap sheet that includes convictions for aggravated assault on a police officer with a firearm, assault and aggravated assault, armed robbery, obstruction of justice, drug sales, and escaping police custody. He has a final removal order and awaits deportation in ICE custody,” ICE said.

The agency confirmed Ijaoba is currently in custody, with deportation proceedings underway. Details about his entry into the US, the locations of his crimes, or a timeline for his removal were not disclosed.

US law allows for the removal of non-citizens who are unlawfully present and convicted of serious crimes, including aggravated felonies, once their criminal proceedings are complete. Ijaoba’s case falls under this provision.

The Bloods gang, which originated in Los Angeles, is known for violent crime and drug trafficking nationwide. Gang affiliation is often considered by authorities in both criminal prosecutions and immigration enforcement.

The deportation announcement comes amid intensified US immigration enforcement targeting undocumented migrants with criminal records, with public safety cited as a priority.

ICE did not confirm whether Nigerian authorities have been formally notified, a standard requirement under international deportation procedures. No immediate comment was available from Nigeria’s government or its Washington mission. Ijaoba will remain in custody until his deportation is finalised.
