Wike Dares Rival PDP Camp
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has challenged the Tanimu Turaki-led PDP faction backed by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde to open an official party bank account or national secretariat if they truly control the party.
He warned that any illegal office linked to the group in Abuja would be sealed immediately.
The fresh clash followed the Supreme Court ruling that nullified the PDP convention held in Ibadan. Despite the judgment, the Turaki group continued to operate as party leaders and began moves for fresh primaries and nomination forms ahead of the 2027 elections.
During a media chat in Abuja, Wike accused the group of ignoring court decisions and misleading party members.
He argued that no bank would approve an account for the faction because it lacked recognised PDP documents and legal authority.
He also warned that any attempt to open offices in the party’s name could trigger legal consequences.
The Turaki camp dismissed the minister’s remarks and insisted its plans for primaries and convention would continue.
The faction accused Wike of trying to intimidate members as the PDP crisis deepens ahead of the next general election.
