Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has called on members of the Kogi State House of Assembly to provide unwavering support to his successor, Governor Usman Ododo.
In a video circulating on social media, Bello is seen directing lawmakers to approve every proposal presented by the governor, emphasizing full cooperation with the Assembly leadership.
“As you are going in there now, go and cooperate with the Speaker and other members of the House of Assembly of Kogi State, and be part of those who support Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo. Are you getting my point? In everything that comes to the Assembly—everything, everything—even if you don’t understand,” Bello told the legislators.
Governor Ododo, who previously served as Auditor-General for Local Governments in Kogi State, assumed office in January 2024 as Bello’s political godson.
Meanwhile, Yahaya Bello is currently facing multiple fraud and money laundering charges from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). He is accused of misappropriating over ₦80 billion in state funds through suspicious transactions, including the purchase of luxury properties in Abuja and Dubai and payment of foreign school fees via proxies.
