Yobe Senator Drops Re-election Bid, Supports Buni
Senator Musa Mustapha has withdrawn from seeking re-election and declared support for Governor Mai Mala Buni to contest the Yobe East Senate seat in 2027.
The move also includes his exit from the race for the All Progressives Congress governorship ticket in the state.
Mustapha said his decision followed a stakeholders’ meeting held in Damaturu on April 23, convened by Buni and Ibrahim Gaidam.
He explained that party leaders agreed to support a consensus candidate for the governorship, prompting him to step aside.
The senator pledged loyalty to the decisions of party leaders and thanked them for giving him opportunities to serve in different roles.
He also directed his supporters to stop all campaign activities linked to his ambition and instead back APC candidates across the state.
Mustapha further congratulated Baba Mallam Wali, described as the preferred choice for governor, while urging unity within the party ahead of the next elections.
