ADC Plans Power Sharing For 2027 Election
In Nigeria, the African Democratic Congress has proposed a shared-power plan to keep opposition forces united ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The idea aims to manage rivalry among key contenders and avoid internal cracks after party primaries.
The proposal introduces a collegiate system where leadership decisions will be taken collectively rather than controlled by one person.
Party figure Lukman Salihu said the model is designed to ensure teamwork and reduce tensions among aspirants.
The move comes as supporters of figures like Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Rotimi Amaechi push different interests within the opposition space.
The party insists the competition is part of normal politics and not a sign of division.
Alongside the plan, the ADC said it has adopted a manifesto focused on people-centred governance and better internal party structure.
The party expressed confidence that, despite disagreements, opposition groups will eventually align behind one candidate for the election.
