ADC Sets Date For Presidential Candidate Reveal
In Nigeria, the African Democratic Congress has fixed May 25, 2026, to pick its presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 elections.
The date was released in the party’s official timetable, just two days after the ruling party schedules its own primary.
The party also set May 22 for governorship primaries and outlined fees for aspirants across all levels.
Presidential forms were pegged at N100 million, while governorship forms cost N50 million, with other positions carrying lower fees as part of preparations for the polls.
According to the Independent National Electoral Commission, party primaries will run between April 23 and May 30, 2026.
The commission also scheduled the presidential and National Assembly elections for January 16, 2027, with governorship polls to follow in February.
The timetable includes deadlines for form sales, screening and appeals, with activities starting early May.
The party also approved discounts for young aspirants, women and persons with disabilities as it tries to widen participation ahead of the elections.
