APC Internal Crisis Deepens Over Name Swapping On Candidate List
The All Progressives Congress (APC) is facing fresh internal tension after reports of alleged changes to the list of candidates produced during its National Assembly primaries.
The development has sparked complaints from party members ahead of the 2027 general election.
The disagreement over the candidates’ list comes as political activities continue to gather pace.
Reports also suggest that preparations for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign may have slowed efforts to implement financial autonomy for Nigeria’s 774 local government councils.
Elsewhere, worshippers kidnapped during an attack on a Christ Apostolic Church in Ekiti have regained their freedom, while former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has demanded an investigation into claims that public spending equal to two per cent of Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product was omitted from recent budgets.
Other reports say the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency expects heavy rainfall to continue for about 12 weeks.
Meanwhile, the African Democratic Congress accused INEC and the APC-led government of frustrating opposition parties, while Amnesty International called for a transparent investigation into alleged human rights abuses in the South-East.
