2027 Election May Not Hold – ADC Raises Alarm
The African Democratic Congress has raised fresh concerns over the 2027 general election, warning that insecurity, funding delays and actions by the ruling APC could threaten the exercise.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, said the electoral process is facing growing pressure.
He also questioned whether the electoral body would be fully prepared.
Abdullahi said the Independent National Electoral Commission appeared to be under pressure while also struggling with funding and preparations.
He warned that insecurity and flooding in some parts of the country could stop voting in affected areas. According to him, these issues could damage the credibility of the election if not properly addressed.
The ADC spokesman also claimed that the ruling APC had created conditions that made life difficult for opposition parties.
He argued that court cases, political pressure and administrative actions were weakening democracy rather than just targeting opposition groups. He said the coalition suffered after some opposition leaders chose a different political platform.
Abdullahi criticised President Bola Tinubu’s administration, saying Nigerians had not seen enough improvement in their daily lives despite government claims about economic progress.
He insisted the ADC remained a strong alternative for voters and expressed confidence that its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, would offer better leadership if elected.
