Oyebanji Offers Free Health Care To Kidnap Victims
Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has directed the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital to provide free medical tests and treatment for victims recently rescued after months in captivity.
The state government will pay all medical bills while the victims recover.
The victims were kidnapped on April 28, 2026, during a programme at a Christ Apostolic Church in Eda Oniyo, Ilejemeje Local Government Area.
Gunmen killed a pastor during the attack, while another victim later died in captivity before the remaining hostages regained freedom early on Saturday.
The governor also directed the State Ministry of Health and Human Services to monitor the victims’ welfare until doctors confirm they are fit to return home.
He thanked Bola Tinubu, security agencies, traditional rulers, community leaders and the Christian Association of Nigeria for supporting efforts that led to the victims’ release.
Oyebanji urged residents to avoid turning the incident into political arguments on social media and instead support efforts to improve security across the state.
He also expressed sympathy to the family of the victim who lost his life while being held by the kidnappers.
