Appeal Court Stops Hijab In UI
The Court of Appeal in Ibadan has overturned an earlier ruling that allowed Muslim students of the International School University of Ibadan to wear hijab as part of the school’s approved uniform.
The appellate court set aside the decision previously delivered by the Oyo State High Court, which had granted the students permission to use the head covering while attending classes.
The ruling means the earlier judgment is no longer valid, restoring the previous position on the school’s dress code unless another legal decision changes it.
The case centres on the school’s uniform policy and marks another stage in the legal dispute over whether students can wear hijab within the institution.
