Atiku Attacks Tinubu Over Rising Poverty
In Nigeria, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has criticised the administration of Bola Tinubu following a warning by the International Monetary Fund.
He described the current economic situation as “organised hardship dressed up as reform.” The remarks were contained in a statement issued by his aide. The comments come amid growing economic concerns nationwide.
Atiku said the IMF warning reflects what Nigerians already face daily. He argued that government policies have worsened living conditions.
According to him, rising prices, weak purchasing power and currency instability are pushing more people into poverty. He added that economic decisions are disconnected from realities on the ground.
He also pointed to rising costs of food, transport and basic services. The former vice-president said families and small businesses are struggling to survive.
He warned that the situation is affecting education, jobs and overall welfare. His statement paints a picture of increasing hardship across different sectors.
Atiku further raised concerns about the country’s growing debt burden. He urged the government to shift focus to policies that directly support citizens.
The remarks add to ongoing political debate over economic management. Pressure is expected to mount as discussions around reforms continue.
