Atiku Should Step Aside For Other 2027 Aspirants – Umeh
Victor Umeh has called on Atiku Abubakar to reconsider his 2027 presidential ambition and allow younger politicians take the lead.
The senator representing Anambra Central made the remark while reacting to Atiku’s plan to run again. His position adds to ongoing discussions about generational change in Nigeria’s politics.
The call comes shortly after Atiku announced that the 2027 election would be his final attempt at the presidency.
Umeh said he expected the former vice-president to begin stepping back from active contest. Instead, he noted that Atiku has chosen to remain in the race despite growing calls for fresh leadership.
According to Umeh, younger aspirants should be given more room to contest and shape the country’s future.
He suggested that experienced politicians like Atiku could still play advisory roles without directly seeking office. His comments reflect concerns about leadership transition within major political blocs.
The development comes as political alignments gradually build ahead of the 2027 elections.
With several contenders already showing interest, debates around age, experience and succession are becoming more pronounced across the country.
