El Rufai Family Accuses ICPC of Rights Violation
The family of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has accused the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission of blocking access to his doctor and restricting basic family visits while he is in custody in Abuja.
The claims were made by his wife and son on Friday.
According to the family, a court order that allowed him unrestricted medical attention was not followed when his doctor was turned away from the agency’s office.
They also said a visit by his wife to deliver food was stopped due to time restrictions set by officials.
His wife stated that she was not allowed to see him when she arrived with dinner in the evening, while the doctor was also denied access to review medical test results.
The family described the actions as a breach of his rights and court instructions.
His son, a lawmaker in the House of Representatives, also criticised the situation, saying the restrictions were unfair and not in line with due process.
The ICPC has not yet issued any public response to the allegations.
