Yusuf Buhari Wins APC Ticket
Yusuf Buhari, son of late former President Muhammadu Buhari, secured the APC ticket for the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua Federal Constituency seat after defeating Auwal Daura in the party’s primary election held in Katsina State on Saturday.
He polled 6,386 votes, while his rival got 322 votes. The exercise took place across the three local government areas in the constituency.
Party officials said the primary was peaceful, with delegates participating without major disruption.
A total of 6,837 delegates were accredited for the exercise, while 6,708 votes were eventually cast. The constituency itself has over 21,000 registered voters ahead of the 2027 general election.
The outcome quickly stirred reactions across political circles in Daura and other parts of Katsina State, where the Buhari family still commands strong influence within the ruling party.
APC officials supervising the process said the result reflected the support Yusuf Buhari enjoys among party members in the area.
Although Yusuf Buhari had not officially reacted as of the time the result was announced, supporters and party loyalists celebrated his victory shortly after the declaration.
With the outcome, he is now expected to represent the APC in the constituency during the 2027 House of Representatives election.
