FCT Workers Begin Protest Over Pay
Workers at the Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service staged a protest in Abuja over poor working conditions and welfare concerns.
The demonstration took place at the agency’s headquarters in Garki, with a strong security presence around the premises.
The staff accused management of failing to address long-standing issues affecting salaries, promotions and general workplace conditions.
They said repeated discussions had not produced any meaningful changes over the years.
The protesting workers announced plans to continue their peaceful action for several days, warning that they may begin an indefinite strike if their demands are ignored.
They are calling for salary adjustments, promotion updates, better health coverage and housing support.
They also alleged intimidation of staff involved in the protest, saying efforts were made to discourage participation.
The workers maintained that they will continue their action until management responds to their demands.
