First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has urged well-wishers to channel their birthday greetings for her 65th birthday into support for completing the long-delayed National Library project.

In a video message released on Monday, Mrs. Tinubu said she would mark her birthday on Sunday, September 21, 2025, with quiet reflection and thanksgiving to God. She appealed to friends, associates, and admirers to forgo the usual cards, cakes, flowers, or newspaper adverts.

“I wish to appeal to those who would like to send a birthday card, cakes, flowers, greetings in the newspapers, or gifts to instead send the funds to the designated account for a special project close to my heart, among others, the completion of the National Library. This will be the best birthday present I could receive,” she said.

The First Lady explained that her lifelong passion for education motivated her request, noting that the project represents a key investment in Nigeria’s intellectual and cultural development. She added that the initiative will be coordinated by the Federal Ministry of Education under the banner #Oluremi@65EducationFund.

“By the special grace of God, I will be turning 65 years old on 21st September 2025, which happens to be a Sunday. I have therefore decided to dedicate the day to God for all His blessings in my life and have a quiet birthday,” she said.

Mrs. Tinubu emphasised that education is one of the most enduring legacies a nation can build, and that the National Library, once completed, will stand as a lasting symbol of Nigeria’s commitment to learning and research. She concluded by thanking Nigerians for their support: “Thank you for joining me in this building project. God bless you.”
