JAMB Rejects UTME Refund Demands
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has dismissed demands for refunds from candidates who spent money checking their 2026 UTME results.
This followed delays in releasing the April 17 results. Some candidates said they made repeated attempts and incurred charges.
The board’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, addressed the complaints.
Earlier, the board had indicated that the results would be released before midnight on Saturday.
However, the timeline was not met, prompting an apology the next day. Benjamin explained that the delay was due to the absence of the registrar, Ishaq Oloyede, who was away on official duty.
He assured that the results would be released soon after his return.
Despite the delay, the board maintained that it was not responsible for any charges incurred by candidates. It argued that there was no official confirmation that results had been released at the time candidates tried to check.
The spokesperson insisted that the process of releasing results is sensitive and cannot be handled casually.
Later on Sunday, the board again assured that the pending results would be made available within hours. The development came as candidates continued to express frustration over the delay.
JAMB urged the public to wait for official communication before attempting to check results.
