Jonathan, Wife Chased Me From PDP – Amaechi
Rotimi Amaechi said in an interview on Channels Television that he was pushed out of the Peoples Democratic Party by former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, who he claimed took control of political structures in Rivers State.
He spoke on Friday, recalling events that led to his exit from the party in 2013.
He also confirmed his current position within the African Democratic Congress and his role ahead of the 2027 elections.
He explained that his removal followed internal disputes, adding that similar pressure later surfaced during his time in the All Progressives Congress.
Amaechi said he would support Atiku Abubakar if he secures the ADC ticket, but insisted that such emergence must come through a proper primary process rather than a consensus deal.
He maintained that party members should decide their candidate through voting.
He concluded by saying Nigeria needs strong leadership to tackle economic hardship and insecurity, stressing the need for a president who can actively engage with problems across the country.
Amaechi warned that failure to ensure fairness across regions and groups could deepen dissatisfaction and unrest among citizens.
