Nigeria won’t break up, the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has said, stressing that the country will remain united and overcome its challenges. Speaking at a thanksgiving service for the investiture of Most Rev. Sunday Onuoha as Archbishop on Special Duties in Abuja, she was represented by Bishop Stephen Adegbite of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission.

She urged Nigerians to continue praying for the nation and the Church, emphasizing that while international assistance is welcome, the country will not be intimidated or lose its dignity. She added that Nigerians would celebrate the upcoming Christmas in peace and joy.

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu highlighted the importance of foreign partnerships in addressing insecurity, noting that such collaborations can occur without compromising Nigeria’s sovereignty. He also stressed the critical role of the Church in promoting unity, peace, and nation-building, and praised Archbishop Onuoha for bridging the gap between faith communities and the state.

Archbishop Onuoha, speaking to reporters, said Nigeria needs help from all quarters to tackle its growing challenges, particularly insecurity. He warned against denying the seriousness of the country’s problems, stressing that seeking assistance in security matters is no different from seeking financial or humanitarian support.

He called for an end to blame-shifting and highlighted that the loss of life affects everyone, regardless of religion or ethnicity. Onuoha pledged to work with the Church and other stakeholders to promote peace, unity, and collective progress across Nigeria.
