NSA Adviser Ribadu Pushes For Security Alliance
Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, has reaffirmed the country’s commitment to stronger security cooperation across West Africa amid rising threats linked to terrorism and organised crime.
He said Nigeria would continue working closely with neighbouring countries to improve regional stability and strengthen collective defence efforts.
Ribadu stated that intelligence sharing and joint counterterrorism operations remain central to Nigeria’s security strategy.
According to him, closer collaboration among West African nations is necessary to tackle cross-border attacks, arms trafficking and extremist activities affecting the region.
The NSA also noted that insecurity in one country could easily spread across borders if governments fail to cooperate.
He said Nigeria remains ready to support regional efforts aimed at improving surveillance, information exchange and rapid response against terrorist networks operating within the sub-region.
His remarks come as several West African countries continue to battle insurgency, banditry and violent extremist groups.
Security experts have repeatedly called for stronger regional coordination to address growing instability across the region.
