Obi Has Closed Meeting With Bala Mohammed In Bauchi
On Thursday in Bauchi State, African Democratic Congress figure and former presidential candidate Peter Obi held a closed-door meeting with Governor Bala Mohammed at the Government House.
The talks took place at the Presidential Lounge and lasted behind closed doors. The purpose of the meeting was not made public. Both men were expected to speak after the session.
The visit comes amid rising political discussions around Bala Mohammed’s future party plans. He had earlier said during a meeting with a delegation led by former SGF Babachir Lawal that he was considering a move to the African Democratic Congress.
The remarks have continued to fuel speculation within political circles. His position has remained closely watched since then.
Tension around his political direction grew after he also received senior figures from the All Progressives Congress, including National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda and Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf.
Those meetings added to uncertainty over where he may eventually align ahead of the next election cycle. The governor has not made any formal declaration.
As chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum, his next move is seen as important ahead of the 2027 elections.
Political actors are watching closely as discussions continue around possible realignments.
The Bauchi meeting adds another layer to ongoing speculation. Both sides are yet to give a full public account of the talks.
