NDC Adopts Consensus Primaries In Nasarawa
The Nigeria Democratic Congress has introduced consensus primaries for governorship, National Assembly and State Assembly elections in Nasarawa State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The decision was announced during a North Central zonal congress held in Lafia on Saturday.
State party chairman Dogo Shammah said the move was taken to prevent internal disputes and strengthen the party’s chances in the upcoming elections.
He noted that candidates would emerge through agreement among stakeholders to maintain unity within the party structure.
The party also called on residents across Nasarawa and the wider North Central region to join its ranks, describing itself as a platform focused on fairness, development and progress.
Leaders at the meeting said the party is positioning itself as a strong opposition ahead of 2027.
North Central Vice Chairman Barnabas Ejisi urged Nigerians to consider voting out the ruling party in the next elections.
He said recent political alliances have strengthened the party’s outlook, while expressing confidence that the NDC would gain wider support before the polls.
