SERAP Demands Probe From Akpabio Into N6.3bn Corruption Case
The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project has asked Senate President Godswill Akpabio and House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas to refer the alleged diversion of over ₦6.3 billion in constituency project funds to anti-corruption agencies.
The group also wants anyone found guilty prosecuted and the money recovered.
SERAP said its request followed findings contained in the Auditor-General of the Federation’s 2022 report, published in September 2025.
It also demanded the release of the identities of contractors and companies accused of collecting funds without completing projects.
The organisation alleged that several ministries, departments and agencies were linked to questionable payments, abandoned projects, procurement breaches and undocumented spending.
It warned that such practices continue to weaken public services and reduce trust in government.
SERAP gave the National Assembly seven days to act, warning that it would head to court if no action was taken.
It maintained that accountability over constituency projects is necessary to protect public funds and strengthen confidence in public institutions.
