Ekiti Reps Member Denies Thugs Allegation
A member of the House of Representatives, Kolawole Akinlayo, has denied claims linking him to alleged plans to sponsor thugs ahead of the All Progressives Congress House of Representatives primary election in Ekiti State.
The police had earlier announced the arrest of 11 suspected thugs before Saturday’s primary.
The Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Michael Falade, reportedly linked the suspects to the lawmaker representing Moba, Ido-Osi and Ilejemeje Federal Constituency.
But Akinlayo rejected the allegation in a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti, describing it as false and politically driven.
The federal lawmaker said he had never supported or financed any activity capable of disrupting the party’s electoral process.
He maintained that his focus remained on party unity, peaceful participation and strengthening democracy within the APC ahead of the primary election.
Akinlayo also urged security agencies to investigate individuals spreading false claims capable of causing tension within the party.
He reaffirmed his commitment to peace and development across his constituency and Ekiti State.
