Oyo APC Slams Makinde, Atiku And Others Over Summit
In Oyo State, the All Progressives Congress has criticised key opposition figures, including Seyi Makinde and Atiku Abubakar, over a political summit held in Ibadan.
The party dismissed the gathering as lacking the strength to challenge the ruling party ahead of the 2027 elections.
The reaction followed the one-day meeting hosted by Makinde, where opposition leaders discussed plans to unseat Bola Tinubu.
The APC said the event would not trouble the president or its members, insisting the opposition lacks the capacity to compete effectively.
In a statement by publicity secretary Olawale Sadare, the party described the attendees as unserious and unable to match the political strength of the ruling party.
It also took aim at Makinde’s leadership, accusing him of poor judgment and weak political influence.
Despite the criticism, the summit drew notable figures including Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso and other party leaders, who gathered to explore strategies for the next general election.
The APC maintained that the opposition’s efforts would not affect its hold on power.
