The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially opened its National Convention in Ibadan, where several key party leaders were presented with the PDP flag, the Nigerian national flag, the National Convention Flag, and other symbolic flags.

The National Chairman of the PDP, Amb. Ilya Damagum received the party’s flag, while the Chairman of the National Convention and Adamawa State Governor, Umaru Fintiri, was handed the National Convention Flag. The Governor of Bauchi State and Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Senator Bala Mohammed, received the Nigerian Flag. The Host Governor, Seyi Makinde, also collected the Oyo State Flag.

Other party leaders honoured at the ceremony included the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro, who received the Senate Flag, and Hon. Fred Agbedi, who was presented with the House of Representatives Flag.

The Convention commenced with the accreditation of more than 3,000 delegates who gathered in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. Delegates from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory underwent accreditation in preparation for the voting exercise, which began in the afternoon.

Ibadan has been lively since Friday as party supporters from various parts of the country arrived in the South-West political hub.

On Friday, the Chief Host and Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, hosted a dinner attended by PDP Governors, former Governors, the BoT Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara, and members of the party’s National Working Committee. Among those present were the Governors of Adamawa, Bauchi, Rivers, and Zamfara, as well as former Governors Olagunsoye Oyinlola and Ibrahim Dankwambo.
