Police Hunt Bandits After Katsina Attack
In Katsina State, police have launched a manhunt after bandits carried out a deadly reprisal attack in Kankia communities.
The order was given by the state Commissioner of Police, Ali Umar Fage, following the killings on Sunday.
The command said earlier operations had disrupted criminal activities in the area, including foiling cattle rustling attempts on April 29.
Officers recovered over 200 animals and repelled another attack on a village, forcing several suspects to flee with injuries.
Despite these efforts, the attackers regrouped and struck again, targeting Jeka da Kolo and Kwalgoro villages around midday.
The assault left 11 people dead before security teams moved in to push back the assailants.
Police said more tactical teams have been deployed, with patrols and bush combing operations underway to track the suspects.
Residents were urged to remain alert and support security agencies with useful information as efforts continue to restore calm.
