Rivers NDC Candidate Rejects Godfather Claims
The governorship candidate of the in Rivers State, Blessing Fubara, has dismissed claims that his ambition is being supported by a political godfather or linked to his elder brother, Governor .
He said his decision to run in the 2027 governorship election is based on personal conviction and a clear political direction.
Fubara made the comments during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time programme.
He said his political ambition is independent and not shaped by external influence, adding that his focus remains on offering a different approach to governance in the state.
He also separated his political views from those of the Rivers State governor, noting that both follow different paths and ideas.
According to him, attention should be placed on resolving the state’s political and governance issues rather than on narratives driven by competing interests.
Rivers State has continued to face political tension linked to disputes among major political actors.
The situation has resulted in rival camps, court cases and internal disagreements within the political space ahead of the 2027 elections.
Blessing Fubara entered the race after securing the party’s nomination forms earlier in 2026.
