Abducted Major-General Dies In Bandits Captivity
The Katsina State Government has confirmed the death of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar while he was in the custody of bandits.
The incident was described as a painful loss for his family, the state, and the country at large.
The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr Nasiru Mu’azu, who said the former senior military officer died while being held by his abductors.
According to him, the death was linked to complications from diabetes and hypertension.
The government stated that efforts were made by security agencies and state authorities to secure his release, but the situation ended in tragedy.
It added that the loss reflects the continuing security difficulties in parts of northern Nigeria where kidnappings remain frequent.
Governor Dikko Umaru Radda expressed sorrow over the development and extended condolences to the bereaved family.
He also restated his administration’s commitment to working with security forces to tackle banditry and improve safety across Katsina State.
