Sowore Pushes For ₦500,000 As Minimum Wage
Human rights activist and politician Omoyele Sowore has called for a ₦500,000 minimum wage for Nigerian workers.
He said the current economic situation and rising living costs have made existing salaries inadequate for survival.
Sowore argued that workers across the country deserve wages that can genuinely support basic needs such as food, housing, healthcare and transportation.
According to him, inflation and worsening hardship have reduced the value of current earnings.
He maintained that improving workers’ welfare is necessary to ease poverty and restore dignity to labour in Nigeria.
The activist also said better salaries would improve productivity and help families cope with the harsh economy.
His remarks come as debates over workers’ welfare and the cost of living continue across the country.
Many Nigerians have repeatedly complained about rising prices and the struggle to meet daily expenses.
