ADC Leader Alleges Illegal NDC Registration By Obi And Kwankwaso
Dr Umar Ardo, leader of the All Democratic Alliance bloc, has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission of unlawfully registering the Nigeria Democratic Congress recently joined by Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso.
He made the claim during an interview, insisting the process breached legal and regulatory rules. The allegation comes amid rising political tension ahead of the 2027 elections.
Ardo said the party was recognised without meeting basic conditions required for registration.
He claimed his group and others followed due process but were ignored, while the NDC was granted approval under unclear circumstances.
He explained that his team submitted documents, paid fees, and passed initial checks by the electoral body. However, they were later excluded, prompting legal action.
While their case was still pending, INEC announced the registration of two new parties, including the NDC through a court ruling.
He also hinted at possible political backing behind the process and warned that the issue could affect trust in the system. He said his group would continue its appeal to challenge the registration.
